What Is Glycation?
This morning Shake is just blueberries and ice - you might be wondering why I wouldn't put my shake protein powder in here. **WARNING** if anybody really loves fruit in their protein smoothies - stop watching this video now, so I'm going to burst your bubble, but I'll teach you guys why you don't want to miss fruit and protein together in the shake. For this morning Shake, I did just frozen blueberries and Ice, I was really feeling like some fruit but I did not put my protein shake in here with this and that's where really good reason.
I know this is going to be frustrating and confusing for a lot of people because when you go to a juice bar most of the smoothies you get or those nice bowls they make or always protein a fruit. when you mix the sugar of fruit with the protein molecules, something happens called glycation. in scientific terms, ​glycation is essentially when the sugar molecule binds to the protein molecule, but there is not a control of an enzyme or reaction of the enzyme. essentially, all that really means is that the protein is going to be turned into pure sugar when you add fruit to protein.
avoid mixing your fruits with high Protein supplements such as collagen - this sugar molecule will bond to the protein molecule in the collagen as well.
The reason glycation is such a big Topic in the skincare Community right now is because they have learned that this process of the sugar molecule from the fruit bonding with the protein is actually causing increased rates of ageing and it will cause wrinkles. they have a short term called AGES for that. crazy how some of these Concepts have been sold to us as being appropriate like the fruit with the protein because we see it everywhere out in our fast food system. we assume that that's okay for it to go together, but it's I feel kind of bad for people because if you don't do research and read about food, you would have no idea and no one's ever going to tell you. I mean every juice bar I go to serves protein with fruit. So it's a little frustrating that way if anyone wants some books about food to read you can always hit me up in my DM - I love to make book recommendations.
And for anyone who's like me and loves to have fruit in the morning - Don’t worry, you can still do that, just simply eat your fruit alone, with nothing else, wait 20 minutes, so it gets to make it from stage one to stage two Digestion before you have any protein. Have a great morning?
