Soul Renovation - School of Soul
Apr 15, 2024Rating 9/15 π What a story! Where to begin.. For background, Adam Neumann is the co-founder and CEO of WeWork, a community-based shared working space real estate company once valued at $47 Billion before the illusion cracked. More than that, he is a creator like none other.
The story is well written but reads more like a tabloid than an unbiased opinion of events. The author's disdain for Adam is evident throughout. Yet through the storytelling of events, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Adam may, in fact, be one of the all-time creators of our time. He has been compared to Steve Jobs to have the ability to emanate a reality distortion field that convinced anyone within their radius that anything and everything is possible. He had a failing business model but was graced with the art of painting a vision; he captivated people with wild tales of future projects, many of which never existed and was able to sell it to some of the best investors in the world - Soft Bank Vision Fund (the world's largest technology-focused venture capital fund), JP Morgan, and even Goldman Sacs. The best part of the story is it was all an illusion. They were the largest office tenant in New York and second in London - operating over 600,000 + work stations, it was an absolute financial disaster and only worked as long as Adam was selling the dream, taking in more private equity than any other “tech” start-up before, and pumping it out into expansion to full the illusion of growth. All that being said, Adam truly believed in his vision - and with better guidance, the company may have actually manifested into what he envisioned. π This is a wild story and well worth the read! πͺ
