Apr 15, 2024Our limiting beliefs are hidden in our fixed mindset. When we shift to a growth mindset, we shift into a way of living that we learn to grow through instead of absorbing limiting beliefs.
What is a limiting belief?
It is a belief that you are not 'good' at something, anything.
For an easy example, one may believe 'I can't write' or 'I'm not a good writer.' How often do you make statements about yourself such as this?
In any area of your life?
Fixed Mindset vs Growth Mindset:
If you have thoughts like this about yourself, you have a limiting belief, and that shows you are operating from a fixed mindset as you believe your current destination is where you will forever reside in this area of life.
Vs knowing that where you are is where you are, but you can improve, so this is not a fixed location for you - you don't make it mean something about you or your future.
The words we choose to speak about ourselves matter - they can propel us forward or chain us to the past.
If you believe that you can't write, you will never even try to improve. As if that is your belief, your mind will think what's the point? Why would I bother? I am no good at that. And this is how a limiting belief becomes fixed - you stop moving forward, and you become fixed and stop growing your consciousness around anything and create a hard rule 'I'm no good at X.' *Throw in the towel*
Change begins in simply understanding that your current situation does not dictate your future destinations. You are never fixed in life unless you decide you are.
You can excel at anything you decide to excel at.
