How To Pack - Fordism Model
Who has heard of Fordism of Taylorism?
What Is Fordism?
Henry Ford, one of the greatest self-made men ever in history isn't actually just known for creating the engine. Henry Ford was single-handedly responsible for creating what's called Fordism or Taylorism. AA model used to save time in an assembly line by doing the same task over and over again.
After learning to build the engine, Henry ford examined each step of the process and came to the conclusion that if he had one person do each step over and over each day, they would become masters of their step. By becoming a master, they would become quicker at performing the task. Thus, the invention of the assembly line came to be.
I use this model when I am moving. I move a lot I have moved at least 20 times already and I am only in my early 30’s. My dad and I have always renovated homes, and I would move into each of our projects. Over the years found ways to move more efficiently.
First I build all the boxes, filling the entire room, then I tape them all at once, then fill them all, then close them all. By grouping my tasks together reduce the amount of time needed to create each box by half!
where did I learn about Fordism? Of course from Think and Grow Rich Think. Think and Grow Rich is one of the best books ever written in history.
It's actually the most sold book underneath the sales of the Bible. Think and Grow Rich was written in 1937 by Napoleon Hill. Napoleon Hill traveled around the USA Interviewing on his own dime all the self-made millionaires of the era.
Now. you have to imagine how much a million dollars was really worth in 1937. Think and Grow Rich is considered a cult classic to anybody in business, but especially entrepreneurs. this book is still completely 1000% relevant today in 2019. I highly recommend picking it up and studying it.
This model has saved me a ton of time moving and can be implemented in many aspects of your life.
Being successful is not necessarily about doing more in life.
It's actually about doing the things you do more productively and with better processes.
Most people don't know this because in our culture ‘multitasking’ has been glorified, but the mind can not physically multitask. The human mind can only focus on one single event or process at a time. So when we a’ multitasking’, we are actually splitting our attention and shifting it back and forth each time. Thus losing time with each shift of focus. This exhausts the mind and causes decision fatigue.
